Governance has to operate at the speed of AI adoption

Most organizations already have pieces of AI governance spread across security, privacy, legal, risk, data, architecture and procurement. The challenge is not starting from zero; it is creating one operating model that determines which AI uses require review, who owns the decision and what evidence must exist before deployment. Governance that is too vague is ineffective, while governance that requires the same review for every use case becomes a bottleneck.

Start with inventory and accountability

An organization cannot govern AI it cannot see. Create an AI inventory that captures business owner, purpose, users, model or vendor, data used, integrations, decisions influenced, deployment environment, risk tier and lifecycle status. Pair every entry with an accountable business owner and a technical owner. That simple foundation makes the rest of the governance process auditable.
